Kakungulo is a Satellite City located 18 Km South West of Kampala. it is designed as a gated community, built for security and social amenities for middle-high income groups. It will house a population of 144.000 inhabitants by the completion of the construction works, expected by 2020.
The project is based on “green city” principles, including the improvement of renewable energies and the development of vegetable urban gardens for the community.
Gated community planning in Uganda represents a rising trend that might carry the risk of dividing society, undermining public services and not discouraging equitable growth in the region.
