The new town of Aerotropolis will be located near Thika Municipality and its plan, as the name implies, includes a new international airport along with a CBD and several commercial and administrative units, with the purpose to encourage market liberalization, regional trade collaboration, and the role of the aviation industry in decreasing the cost of doing business in Africa. The town area, excluding the airport structures, covers a 2000 hectares land and it is designed to house around 100.000 people.
