The project of Cauaco City was implemented in 2008, on the initiative of Angola Government in partnership with the Chinese Company Sonipol. In 2014 the first residents moved in Cauaco, which is expected to house a total population of 60.000 inhabitants, by the end of its completion.
Unfortunately even if the city has received its first dwellers, problems concerning basic infrastructures still need to be solved, particularly the ones concerning lack of health facilities, inefficient public transport and water supply cuts. The shortage of basic services in the new settlement is arousing general dissatisfaction among the residents.
