Dege Eco Village is intended as a satellite township of Dar es Salaam city, being built on area covering 1,21 km2. It consist of a mixed-use residential project addressing mainly high and medium class groups of population, expected to become a self sustaining community where residents interact and have a sense of belonging.
The target class of the project made some parliamentarians highlight the need for developing the plan, considering how to facilitate lower income earners in affording their houses in the new town.
At the moment, the construction of some housing units in Dege Eco Village has already started, but the infrastructures development is proceeding slowly and it is requested the government intervention to supply water, roads and energy.
