Taita is a suburb of Local Wellington in the Lower Hutt City. It is a community, but not a township in its own right. The town was part of the labour government's state housing program. Ernst Plischke, working in the Department of Housing Construction as a community planner under Reg Hammond designed the towns shopping and community centre. source:
