The new town of Lakhyayta is located 20km south-west of Casablanca, and it was planned to reduce the housing pressure and congestion characterizing the economic capital of Morocco. It was designed as a place where 300.000 people could live and work in a “green” environment.
Lakhyayta project has a focus on industrial activities to create new job opportunities in the area of Great Casablanca.
So far the city is still in its first phase of development, only 3.500 housing units are completed among the total 60.000 planned and the construction of the industrial and service area has not started yet.
